Veracruz, a leader in agricultural innovation and sustainability in almond production, has reached a historic milestone by becoming the world’s first almond producer to be Certified Regenerative by A Greener World (AGW) for regenerative stewardship. This recognition highlights Veracruz’s commitment to its journey toward regenerative agriculture and environmental preservation.
Since its founding, Veracruz has been driven by the mission to integrate agricultural practices with environmental responsibility. Based in the Beira Interior region of Portugal, the company cultivates over 1,300 hectares of almond orchards. Achieving this certification reflects its investment in regenerative practices that go beyond preserving natural resources, promoting biodiversity, and capturing carbon.
“Our journey toward achieving this certification was guided by the desire to transform the way we produce our almonds. Regenerative agriculture is not just a practice but a philosophy that represents our core values,” says Francisco Marques, agronomist and R&D leader.
Certified Regenerative by AGW is widely recognized for its rigorous criteria, evaluating aspects such as soil health, biodiversity management, and social equity. Veracruz underwent an independent audit to validate its regenerative practices and compliance with the certification’s standards.
